YOU NEED TO USE THE KEY WORDS FROM THE QUESTION IN YOUR OPENING SENTENCES.

In a DESCRIBE paragraph:

1. 'An interesting/important/significant  event/idea/character/setting  is ________________.
   
2. In the next sentence, you should DESCRIBE IT.
   Eg. If it was an important character you were describing you would say... 'He/She is (then name three describing words eg. brave etc). He/she is also (name three more describing words).
   You should try to use 6 describing words in your describe paragraph.
   
3. Follow this with 'For example__________________ (make sure it is a quote).
   
4. Explain how the example shows us something from the list of 6 things you named at the start.

In an EXPLAIN paragraph:

1. The reason why (name then event/character/setting/idea) is important/interesting/significant because...__________.
   You need to be really clear why it is important. Think about the themes eg. Identity, having courage etc.
   
2. 'For example...__________________.'
   'We saw this when...______________.
   
3. Explain the example above:
   'This showed how...________________.'
   'This was important/interesting/significant because...______________.
   
4. Linking
   'This makes us think about... ________________.'
